The Substance Abuse Residential Recovery Specialist is responsible for assisting residents with the necessary skills to learn to live in a drug and alcohol free environment. The Substance Abuse Recovery Specialist will provide Substance Abuse groups, living skills groups, serve as role model for the residents, complete clerical reports and documentation, assist residents with using good judgment to maintain their sobriety. The Substance Abuse Residential Recovery Specialist also assists residents to reach their goals by providing rehabilitative, collateral and consultation services.

The Substance Abuse Residential Recovery Specialist is an energetic self-starter who is able to function comfortably in a team environment or independently and relates well to co-workers and County representatives. This position requires flexibility and the ability to manage time and multiple tasks. The individual in this position must be able to assume a wide range of responsibilities, provide timely responses to requests and deadlines and works well under pressure.

Position Location:  North Hills, CA

Position Shift: Wednesday-Saturday Overnight 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Salary Range:

Registered counselor $15.07 up to $16.97 per hour

Certified counselor $21.95 up $24.34 per hour

Additional 10% Overnight Shift Differential

Job Requirements

  • Certification as a substance use disorder counselor/AOD counselor and 6 months of experience.
  • Valid California driver’s license; current automobile insurance; have and maintain a clean driving record acceptable to the organization’s insurance company; have immediate access to his or her vehicle during work hours.
