Job Description

The Substance Abuse Lead Residential Counselor is responsible for assisting clients with the necessary skills to learn to live in a drug and alcohol free environment. The Substance Abuse Lead Residential counselor will assist the Residential Supervisor as needed, provide Substance Abuse groups, living skills groups, serve as role model for the clients, complete clerical reports and documentation, assist clients with using good judgment to maintain their sobriety. The Substance Abuse Lead Counselor also assists clients to reach their goals by providing rehabilitative, collateral and consultation services.

The Substance Abuse Lead Residential Counselor is an energetic self-starter who is able to function comfortably in a team environment or independently and relates well to co-workers and County representatives. This position requires flexibility and the ability to manage time and multiple tasks. The individual in this position must be able to assume a wide range of responsibilities, provide timely responses to requests and deadlines and works well under pressure.

Position Location: North Hills, CA

Salary Range: $19.19 up to $20.51 per hour

Shift Hours: Monday-Friday 6:30am-3:00pm; Overnight

Additional 10% Overnight Shift Differential

Job Requirements

  • Certification as a substance use disorder counselor/AOD counselor and 6 months of experience.
  • Some supervisory experience in a substance use disorder or co-occurring mental health treatment program preferred.
  • Valid California driver’s license; current automobile insurance; have and maintain a clean driving record acceptable to the organization’s insurance company; have immediate access to his or her vehicle during work hours.
