Summary:

The Family Support Partner provides support, advocacy, system orientation, mentoring, and other supportive services to the families in the community through the Embracing Identities Program (EI). The purpose of the Embracing Identities program is to provide Prevention and Early Intervention services to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Intersex, and 2-Spirit (LGBTQI2-S) Transition Age Youth (TAY) 16-25 years of age. The Family Support Partner will work with the Project Coordinator and Peer Support Partner to increase recognition of early signs of mental illness, promote community awareness, ensure access to culturally appropriate community based programs for the LGBTQI2-S TAY consumers and their families and/or caregivers and conduct support groups for the LGBTQI2-S TAY youth and their families. The Family Support Partner operates from a strengths-based, culturally competent, and community-based perspective. The Family Support Partner will ensure that LGBTQI2-S TAY youth and their families have voice, access, and ownership of the services they receive.


Position Location: Commerce, CA


Salary Range: $18.50 up to $21.10 per hour

Additional $1.00 per hour Bilingual Spanish Differential


Position Status: Part Time

Job Requirements

  • The Family Support Partner must have personal experience as a caregiver of a LGBTQI2-S youth.
  • The applicant will submit a letter of interest outlining his or her personal experience as a caregiver of an LGBTQI2-S youth.
  • Bilingual Spanish Required.
  • Valid California driver’s license; current automobile insurance; have and maintain a clean driving record acceptable to the organization’s insurance company; have immediate access to his or her vehicle during work hours
