Summary:
The goal of foster care is to provide for the physical, emotional, psychological and social needs of children in a "substitute" family setting - a foster or adoption family - until the biological family can be reunited or a permanent placement plan or adoption can be implemented. Foster Care Social Workers work independently with moderate supervision while conducting social services activities that improve the social and psychological functioning of children and their families. This ultimately maximizes the well-being of families and the academic and social functioning of children. These responsibilities include goal setting, planning, organizing, coordinating, decision making, communicating and evaluating to promote an optimal level of behavioral, emotional, and social functioning and an improved learning process of the foster or adoptive child. The major function of the Foster Care Social Worker’s position is to empower children through various social service activities.

Salary Range: $20.20 up to $26.26 per hour
Additional $1.00 per hour Bilingual Spanish Differential
